    • I love your ColorPicker Christine!!
Do you have stuff with Glass/Shiny effects that you share?

    • Hi Ashraf. And thank you for the compliment!

I actually had just created this project as an idea for a Surface WPF application. I didn't actually make it a control yet. So you could take the project and add your own effects to the ball in the center. I simply used an ellipse with an opacity mask to get the matt effect.

There is a great tutorial here on doing the glass effect and glass buttons: http://www.attitudedesign.co.uk/how-to-create-the-glass-effect/

    • I like the design and the color choice of your picker, i really suck at these things. For my project i will create a usercontrol based on your picker.

The glass effect tutorial makes the life easy, thank you.

    • Thank you Ashraf for the 5 Star! I really do appreciate it!

I'm not sure if you noticed, but I updated the Silverlight project with a glass effect. Perhaps you can get some ideas from that. It is included in the updated download.

      Have a great weekend!

    • Nice glass effect!
You are really helping me with this glass effect thing.

I am working on a usercontrol based on your color picker, i already went through your code and tried to make the color selection more dynamic, i have it in a list now but i plan to have in a list of string so you can chose your colors via a property without changing the picker code.
I also made the storyboard1 and storyboard2 in code, so the EasingDoubleKeyFrame and their properties are set in one place for the expand animation and once for the shrink animation.

      Take care,
      /Ashraf

    • I'd love to see your finished project. Sounds fantastic!

    • great work :D
    • Thank you so much Abeer!

    • "Good stuff" seems to be too faint praise for this work. Your color picker is stunning Christine. I think perhaps you have trained as an artist?

Unfortunately, I seem unable to access either the code or the WPF dll. I am working in VS 2008 and Expression Blend 3. Do I have to have VS 2010 and/or Expression Studio 4?

      Cheers!

    • Thank you so much Aracam! And thank you for the 5 Star.

Yes it was done using Blend 4 and will not work in 3. However, I still have Blend 3 installed on one of my laptops. So give me a day or so and I'll post one for Blend 3 that should work for you.

    • Christine, that is a very generous offer for which I thank you.

    • Hi Christine,
I did not want to hassle you, because I figured you might be on vacation - but I was wondering, did you have any luck locating the Blend 3 version of your beautiful ColorPicker?

      Thanks again,

      Aracam

    • Aracam,

I am so very sorry. I had started trying to do this some time ago, had to put it down and then it slipped my mind.

My biggest problem is finding a working copy of Blend 3. I found one, but can't find the key for it. I started to do it in Blend 4, but ran into problems finding the correct dll's.

I just don't think I am going to be able to make it happen.

I did a search of the galleries and noticed Kirupa had posted a Blend 3 color swatch some time ago. If I remember correctly it was animated and included as a sample project with the Blend 3 release. Would that possibly work for you?

      ~Christine

    • Hi Christine,
Thank you for the time you have spent on this. Please think no more about it. I shall have a look at Kirupa's solution and whenever I upgrade my copy of Blend - purse strings willing - I shall come back to study your solution.

Much obliged for your efforts. Keep on coding!
